Intuitive CQG charting
Setting up charts is straightforward, and every element of the CQG chart can be modified to suit the trader’s interest through the setup menu. You can set the modification for the current chart, all charts on the page, all charts on all pages, or all new charts.
Scrolling a chart is done by grabbing the chart with your mouse, holding down the left-mouse button, and dragging the chart. A red arrow appears to indicate the direction the price data is shifted from the end. One click on the arrow returns the price data to the standard configuration.
The scale can be adjusted using the same technique with the mouse.
- If you have a daily chart and want a different time frame chart, or a different type of chart, click and you have it.
- If you want to add a study to a chart, click and it's there. Or you can move from study to study or apply the same study to all charts you create.
- If you want to see how a particular monthly contract fared in the past, you can call up a historical chart.
- If you want to make a note on a chart, you can add text easily, or you can mark bars that meet certain conditions.
- And if you want to enter an order directly from a chart, you can do that too, without switching from one screen or application to another.
In short, CQG is designed to provide maximum flexibility that can fit any trader's style. CQG also makes it easy to get what you want by using the toolbar menu or by clicking on a window, and it responds instantly to produce what you require.
Charting Techniques
CQG has a chart type for every market. For example, the “no gap” and “constant volume” charts are solutions to the very low-volume periods common to electronic markets when the regular exchanges are closed. The lack of activity leads to price gaps and technical studies will flatline due to the lack of price movement. CQG's new TradeFlow™ charts and studies show the electronic market aggression by graphically displaying volume hitting the bid or lifting the offer.
